About: The Franklin Arts Institute and Writers Views are hosting a love poetry contest. Writers can submit any kind of poetry as long as it is between 500 and 2,500 words. Writers can only submit one poem, and that poem must be an original work, by an amateur writer. The contest will start on August 20th, 2017.
Entry Fee: Free to enter
Prize: First place gets $1,000 and an offer for a paid writing internship with the Franklin Arts Institute. Second place will get $500, and third place will receive $200.

6. SaveAs Writers’ International Competition 2017 by SaveAsWriters
About: As this year is the bicentenary of the death of Jane Austen, this competition is dedicated to her. Writers are asked to write poems that relate to her and her works, under the theme of love and friendship. Poems can be modern versions of her classics, they can give voice to a character, or really anything that touches on anything Jane Austen. The only specification is that poems must be 60 lines max.
